Golf
Golf is one of the Dominican Republic’s top attractions, bringing thousands of tourists to this Caribbean destination. What makes Dominican golf so popular is the variety of the terrain in combination with the outstanding year-round weather conditions.
Dominican Golfers have no less than 28 courses to choose from. All of these courses were designed to expose as many holes as possible to the beautiful Dominican coast. Green fees and caddy costs at many of them are quite reasonable. When it comes to golf in the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic still reigns supreme.
Golfing in the DR started in La Romana at Casa de Campo in 1971, with the construction of the legendary 18-hole golf course "Teeth of the Dog", which has been recently renovated. To the west, nearby Puerto Plata you can enjoy the 18-hole Playa Dorada at the hotel complex of the same name and the 9-hole Los Mangos in Costambar that primarily caters to hotel guests in nearby Cofresi.
Finally, in the central mountain area of Santiago, there is 18-hole Las Aromas, designed by Pete Dye when he began his career as a golf course designer. The 9-hole Jarabacoa Golf Club is considered by many as a hidden gem. The 9-hole Bonao Golf Club also opens it doors to visitors.
